Koehn Manthei is the interim Worship Lead and Creative Arts Director for Excel College in Black Mountain. He was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Black Mountain in 2022 to be a part of the C7 Cohort. Koehn recently graduated from Excel College with an emphasis in Audio Engineering, and currently lives on campus where he works as a House Captain and Worship Leader.

Koehn says, “I’ve always been deeply moved by music, and my love for other people’s songs inspired me to write my own. It was never just entertainment for me. I found myself invested in the artist’s lives and the stories that inspired the music, always trying to appreciate it for all that the artist intended. Creating my own music was the means by which I further understood the music that I was so impacted by. I began writing short, simple songs, and soon found myself turning to songwriting as my key way of understanding my own life and the lives of those around me.”

Pizza @ Peri benefiting Hope for Tomorrow!

A portion of all pizza and beverage sales will be donated back to Hope for Tomorrow.

SVCM’s Hope for Tomorrow ministry is a transformational housing program for single mothers and their children who are currently experiencing or at risk of homelessness. At our campus in Black Mountain, we offer these vulnerable families safe, affordable, transitional housing and intensive support services for up to 18 months. We’re currently able to accommodate mothers accompanied by up to two children ages 0-19.

At Hope for Tomorrow, our goal is to support participating moms while they build the skills and resources necessary to attain permanent housing, adequate income, and a savings plan - while growing their sense of self-worth and well-being. Participants have access to many services including: case management, career counseling, financial planning, educational workshops, child enrichment, mental health counseling, basic medical care and social activities. During their residency, mothers are also invited to take advantage of our savings match plan. Thanks to a generous grant, up to $2,000 that they save will be matched dollar-for-dollar - for a potential total value of $4,000.

At SVCM, the heart of all our services is to affirm every person’s inherent dignity and worth.
